With the holiday season upon us, and the weather continuing to get cooler, I’m more and more drawn to doing baking experiments in the kitchen. Perhaps you have the same impulse, or maybe you like to enjoy the products of these experiments? In either case, if you like chocolate cookies and want to try a healthier version that will not leave you feeling sluggish or feeling guilty after indulging, these cookies may be just what you need for a cozy winter day at home.
Although, I admit it, they are my guilty pleasure, and do have a few (ok, more than a few) dark chocolate chips (and maple syrup, my fave sweetener), I’ve packed these cookies with flax, chia seeds, hemp seeds, pecans, and oats - altogether excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, vitamins and minerals. I also used LESS maple syrup than usually, and they still tasted delish.
